Notes We got to our starting point at 7:22 a.m. MST but there was dense fog reducing clear visibility to less than 50 m. We waited expecting the fog to lift, as the sun was unobstructed by clouds further South when we left home in Central Park, Colorado; however by 7:50 a.m. there was only a slight improvement, so we decided to start the survey, since most of the raptors are usually fairly close to the roadside. The fog was not predicted at weather.gov which was surprising, and even more astonishing was that the fog lasted all day, worse in some areas with improved visibility to 400 m elsewhere; interestingly some of the areas of fog were in higher areas rather than the valleys below.
A few areas had very light snow flurries.
Surprisingly we had only 1 AK.
