Notes Mostly cloudy, which I typically try to avoid. But the finding of a Ferruginous Hawk in the area, a few days earlier, dictated getting out there without much further delay. Also, colder weather in the long term forecast. Not especially cold on this day. Not especially windy, but enough to be felt at times. And it didn\'t seem to stimulate a lot of soaring, perhaps outweighed by the negative effect of the clouds. As a side note to only 3 Black Vultures being encountered in the survey area. Where I stopped to get breakfast, about 5 miles away, at least 12 BV\'s were sitting on rooftops in the shopping center.

NH (Northern Harrier)07:55:001Flying •unspecified agriculture
Notes: 1785. Number indicates camera image number, which I use to refer back to the image used to record the GPS coordinates taken with the camera (sometimes of the bird).
RL (Rough-legged Hawk)08:00:001Perched DarkImmature•unspecified agriculture
Notes: 1786. Seen in tree a long way out. Became easier to identify when a few crows landed in said tree, soon causing the hawk to fly.
RT (Red-tailed Hawk)08:05:001Perched
Notes: 1787-1788.
RT (Red-tailed Hawk)08:15:001Perched Adult•wetland/pond/marsh/riparian•green agriculture
Notes: 1789-1790. Looks like the skittish, darkish northern bird seen in the same area last year. Sitting in trees along the Wallkill River.

Notes: 1815. Photographed in tree along Onion Avenue.
PG (Peregrine Falcon)08:50:001Flying •roadsides
Notes: 1816. Not seen well. I can't rule out that it was the same bird from the other side of the river, but I was told of an immature in the area. So there are two birds around.

FH (Ferruginous Hawk)10:40:001Perched Immature•unspecified agriculture
Notes: 1840. Not an input error here. The Ferruginous Hawk was found a few days earlier in the general area, for a first New York record. How great that it's in my WRS route. Many birders in the area on this day helped find it, enabling me to get it for the WRS. Seen way out in a field, on the ground. I focused on it for an hour and a half, before resuming the route. I did get an opportunity for good pictures.
