| Notes | All perched birds distances were measured using Google Maps and satellite view, either exactly or estimated (e.g. when in the middle of the Hudson River. 26 Eagles were seen Southeast on the Hudson River ice from Steamboat Dock in Verplanck. When we got to the next spot George's Island we did not count any BE far to the west that we might have seen from Steamboat Dock, counting only BE more which East which would have be shadowed visually by the bulk of Montrose Point. Also the large number of BE seen Southeast on the Hudson River from George's Island could not have been seen from Steamboat Dock as the Hudson River veers Southeast looking southward. They would also not have been seen at Croton Point. In fact we saw no BE on our walk up the trail south of the campground on the Hudson River that we could see to our South. From here we could not see the Hudson River to the West where the large number of BE were seen earlier. At the large parking lot south of the Nature Center we could see a part of the Hudson River but devoid of any BE there. It's At the last stop on Croton Dam Road I went to end my checklist and add weather conditions and couldn't find it anywhere in the car. I realized I must have left it at the Croton Dam and fortunately it was where I left it. | |
